Breaking news: Hegseth’s ex-sister-in-law tells senators he was abusive to second wife

Pete Hegseth, President Trump's nominee for Secretary of Defense, is facing serious allegations from his former sister-in-law, Danielle Hegseth. In a sworn affidavit submitted to the Senate, Danielle claims that Hegseth was abusive toward his second wife, Samantha, causing her to fear for her safety. She recounts instances where Samantha hid in a closet and established a "safe word" due to concerns about Hegseth's behavior.

Danielle also alleges that Hegseth engaged in excessive drinking and made inappropriate remarks, including "No means yes!" which she interpreted as condoning non-consensual sex.

These allegations have prompted Senator Jack Reed, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, to express concern over their omission from the FBI's background check on Hegseth. Despite the gravity of these claims, Hegseth and his ex-wife, Samantha, have denied any abuse occurred during their marriage.

The Senate, with a narrow Republican majority, is preparing to vote on Hegseth's confirmation. While some Republican senators have expressed concerns, the nomination is expected to proc

eed.
